Release the Captives Prayer Weekend
Sept. 29 >> Oct. 1, 2006
Vision
Our vision is for
Christians to organize one day in the workplace and one Sunday
to focus prayer and intercession on behalf of people who are
trafficked, enslaved and exploited.
… say to the
captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’
—Isaiah 49:9
They cast lots for
my people and traded boys for prostitutes; they sold girls for
wine that they might drink.
—Joel 3:3
Purpose
Petition God to change
things, to free the captives, to end these evils, and to guide
and empower Christians to serve, to prevent, to rescue and to
restore.
Clothe yourselves
with the full armour of God so that you may be able to stand
against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not
against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the
spiritual forces or evil in the heavens.
—Ephesians 6:11-12
Plan
Prayer and
awareness-raising materials will be available on the internet
to facilitate local implementation of the prayer and fast
weekend for use in both corps/churches and workplace settings.
Do not be anxious
about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and
petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.
—Philippians 4:6
